Legal basis
Unclaimed funds are governed by Article 33/B of Insurance Law no. 5684 and the regulation on unclaimed funds in private-law insurance published in Official Gazette no. 28789 of 08.10.2013.
What is covered?
Any amount due to be paid or refunded to a rights holder under private-law insurance (such as a claim payment or premium refund) that has become time-barred and where the insurer could not reach the rights holder.
How it works
- The insurer publishes an announcement as required by the regulation.
- Amounts not claimed by 15 June following the end of the limitation period are transferred by the end of June to the Guarantee Account (or to bodies set up under special laws) and recorded as income.
- The Guarantee Account does not pay rights holders directly; if a query shows an amount due to you or you learn it has been transferred, contact the insurer concerned.
How to check
Use the announcement or query pages on the insurer's website (usually with your Turkish ID number and date of birth, or tax number) or contact the insurer. The Guarantee Account website also provides information. We can guide you for policies arranged through us: 0543 789 66 55, info@drdgroupsigorta.com.
