DASK is the compulsory earthquake insurance for eligible dwellings under Law No. 6305 on Disaster Insurance, backed by the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool. It covers material damage caused by earthquake and by earthquake-induced fire, explosion, tsunami and landslide, up to a maximum sum determined by the building's construction type.
DASK insures the building only; your contents and all non-earthquake perils fall outside it. If rebuilding your home would cost more than the DASK maximum, the difference is also yours to bear. That is why we always plan DASK together with home insurance and, where needed, supplementary earthquake cover.
What is covered?
- Earthquake and earthquake-induced fire
- Explosion following earthquake
- Tsunami following earthquake
- Landslide following earthquake
- Foundations, main walls, load-bearing structure, ceilings and floors
- Shared walls and retaining walls
- Shared building elements such as the roof, stairs and lifts
Optional add-on covers
- Supplementary Earthquake Insurance for the part above the maximum sum
- Earthquake cover for contents within a home policy
- Debris removal and temporary accommodation costs (with a home policy)
What you should know
A valid DASK policy is required for title-deed transactions and for household subscriptions such as water and natural gas.
The premium depends on the seismic risk zone, the construction type and the gross floor area. A quote requires the property's UAVT address code, and if you do not know it we will find it for you.
The maximum sum insured is updated periodically by DASK. Building value above it needs supplementary earthquake insurance or earthquake cover added to your home policy.
