Climate Insurance

Climate Insurance is a Sompo Sigorta product built on fire cover, with climate-related perils such as flood, hail, storm, snow load and landslide added on top. A single policy protects one home, one workplace and one boat you own, including their building and contents, plus a car if you choose. The same policy also includes personal accident cover for you and accident-related vet costs for your pet.

It is designed for individual customers who own a home, workplace, car, boat or pet. Its standout feature is that it works as a complement: even if your home policy or kasko covers the same loss, Climate Insurance steps in for the part above those policies' limits. We review your existing policies and assess together what this product would really add for you.

What is covered?

  • Fire, lightning and explosion
  • Flood and inundation
  • Hail
  • Tornado, storm and hurricane
  • Snow load
  • Landslide and ground subsidence
  • Trees falling due to storms
  • Glass breakage caused by hail
  • Personal accident: death, permanent disability and treatment costs
  • Vet, surgery, medication, lab test and X-ray costs if your pet is injured in an accident

Optional add-on covers

  • Option to include or exclude a car in the plan
  • Complementary protection above the limits of other policies such as home insurance or kasko
  • Plan options with different sums insured

What you should know

Climate Insurance is a Sompo Sigorta product, available through our agency. Sums insured and the premium vary by the chosen plan and whether a car is included, and we share the current plan options with you when preparing the quote.

Cover is provided on a first-loss basis: claims are paid up to the plan limit without any under-insurance calculation. Only one asset of each type is covered; for example, if you own several homes, the policy protects one of them.

Damage to third parties is excluded; for instance, if a storm blows your boat into someone else's property, that damage is not covered. Earthquake is not on the list of covers. The exclusions in the General Conditions for Fire Insurance, such as war, nuclear risks and confiscation by public authorities, also apply, and strikes, lockouts, civil commotion and terror are excluded unless added by endorsement.
