Cargo Transit Insurance

From the moment your goods leave until they are delivered, they face risks such as accidents, fire, flood and damage during loading and unloading. The carrier's liability does not always cover the full loss. Cargo Transit Insurance protects you directly as the owner of the goods.

For manufacturers, exporters, importers and trading companies shipping domestically or internationally, there are three levels of cover: Total Loss, which pays only if the goods are lost together with the conveyance; Narrow Cover for named perils; and Wide Cover for all risks. We assess with you which level suits the type of goods, the packaging and the route.

What is covered?

  • Total loss: complete loss of the goods together with the conveyance
  • Collision and overturning
  • Fire
  • Landslide, bridge collapse and flood
  • Damage during loading and unloading
  • Sinking and stranding
  • General average
  • All risks under Wide Cover (subject to policy exclusions)

Total Loss is the narrowest option and Wide Cover the broadest. The type of goods, packaging, mode of transport and route determine both the suitable cover and the premium.
